9:31 Order of Worship for August 1, 2010
Tenth Sunday after Pentecost
“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love. These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.” (John 15:9-11 ESV)

Benediction
Don't Let the lights and guitars fool you: this is as ancient as it gets...

Contemporary simply means "current." We're not keeping up with
culture for popularity's sake, but rather for the same reason the New
Testament was written in Greek: because a message to the culture must
be written in its language. (Even stained glass and the pipe organ were
once contemporary elements in the church service!) Hair styles
and color schemes may change, but the elements that transcend culture
will always remain:
-
the GATHERING of God's people to praise Him,
-
the PROCLAMATION of His Word,
-
the RESPONSES, inward and outward, of His people to His Word and
-
the SENDING of His people to bring the kingdom to earth as it is in heaven.
These are foundational to who we are, and they will always be relevant.
Come join God's people in our work (liturgy) of praising God each Sunday morning at 9:31 a.m. in Seabrook Hall.
"Then the church throughout Judea, Galilee and Samaria enjoyed a
time of peace. It was strengthened; and encouraged by the Holy Spirit,
it grew in numbers, living in the fear of the Lord." - Acts 9:31
