Mission & Vision

Together, we’re striving to become the kind of church described in the Bible—a church that glorifies God as we make disciples, mature disciples and mobilize disciples of Jesus Christ.

The Vision of CUMC is to Transform Lives and Serve Others.

We believe that God has given us a vision for His Ministry at Christ Church that includes the following principles:

•God desires for Christ Church to be known as a place where transformation occurs; where all persons have a  relationship and experience with Christ that results in life transformation. We want all persons to be able to share their transformation experiences with others.

•God desires for all people to grow toward a Christ-centered life.

We strive to be a place where we teach and model a Biblical worldview that impacts life decisions.
•We want our members to move through a process of spiritual development by focusing on
those encounters that are most significant.
•We desire for all members to serve the body of Christ, the city and the world.
•We long to be a community of faith that emphasizes the importance of every member and
regular attendee intentionally sharing life together for the purpose of transformation.

We envision a church where:

•Lives are regularly being changed by the power of God through faith in Jesus Christ;
•Dynamic, engaging worship helps us encounter God’s presence; where God’s Spirit touches and stirs hearts, where folks can’t wait to step onto the campus because they can tangibly sense the presence of God
•Every person has an unfolding story to share of God’s activity in his or her life, where testimonies of God’s transforming grace in Jesus Christ abound
•Our mission partners consistently prepare to welcome teams from Memphis to lock arms and prayers with them in their efforts to meet the needs of the world through the Gospel of Jesus Christ
•Every single person, from the youngest to the oldest, has a biblical worldview, understands the grand sweep of the Bible and is actively engaging others in conversation about God’s redemptive activity in the world
•Each person is actively praying for a non-believer and sharing his or her faith with a non-believer, eagerly awaiting the day when God breaks through and he or she can lead that non-believer into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ
•Every single activity is aligned to channel resources in the direction of changing lives and serving others
•When asked “Why do you attend CUMC?” people respond, “Because God changed my life and now I want to serve God and others in a way that will help Him change more lives.”
•There is a pervasive sense of unity, harmony and community among a very diverse group of people who call CUMC their spiritual home—there is a mutual love, reverence and respect for different generations, cultures and worship styles.
