We also have Crown money map coaches available for those who would like free, confidential,  one-on-one budget counseling. For more information about money map coaching, contact our Pastoral Care office at 261-2106.

CUMC asks that donors ensure they meet or exceed their annual tithe prior to making special gifts to ministries.

Ways to Give:

  • Cash & Checks. Cash and checks are the most common way donations are received by the church. Our church sends out giving statements to ensure we are properly recording any gifts you have given.
  • Electronic Funds Transfer. If you would like to give regular tithes and/or offerings through a monthly or twice-a-month electronic funds transfer from your bank account, e-mail Jo Ann Cook, or call her at 261-4385.
  • Online Giving. Online giving is now available through Shelby WEBVIEW. This allows you to make a secure online contribution to the church by providing your checking/savings account and routing number. This makes it convenient to set up a recurring contribution or give anytime. >>Learn more.
  • Year-end Gifts. Some individuals like to make special year-end gifts to support our ministry. Because all gifts to the church are subject to IRS deadlines, remember that all year-end gifts must be received in the church office by the close of business on December 31.
  • Giving Envelopes. For those interested, the church provides giving envelopes. Any gifts received by the church in these giving envelopes will be tracked and sent out in the quarterly statement. You can find giving envelopes at all Welcome Points and in the pews in the Sanctuary and Wilson Chapel.
  • Stock & Mutual Funds. It is possible to transfer stock and mutual funds directly to the church. If this is done with securities that have been held for more than one year, the giver will be able to deduct the full fair market value of the securities and avoid paying any capital gain tax. Please call 261-4385 to find out how to EASILY transfer stocks and mutual funds from your account to the church's account for the best tax advantage.
  • Planned Giving Through the Christ Church Foundation. Planned and/or deferred giving allows a donor to make a gift commitment to CUMC through the Christ Church Foundation or various Christ Church Endowment Funds, but to delay delivery of the final benefit of the gift until a later time. Donors who make planned gifts to the church may receive tax and/or other income benefits. Some types of planned gifts result in lifetime incomes for the donor and/or other beneficiaries. Some may enable reduction of income taxes, capital gains taxes and estate taxes. Donors may make planned and deferred gifts to CUMC in the following ways: Through bequest; through charitable remainder trusts, gift annuities; by making CUMC the beneficiary and owner of an insurance policy; though a pooled income fund; through gifts of remainder interests in personal residence, farm or other real property and through charitable income trusts.

The laws governing such gifts are subject to revision; therefore, it is extremely important to have up-to-date information on the tax consequences of such benefactions. Donors should consult their tax advisors, financial advisors, and/or attorney for advice and submit appropriate paperwork to the Christ Church Foundation office.

Call the CUMC Stewardship Office at 261-2141 to discuss how you can be a part of sustaining Christ Church’s legacy.
